Each year the University of Brighton in Hastings holds a special celebration event for those students due to graduate in July. This year’s event was held at Bannatyne Spa Hotel and almost 50 students plus their families and friends attended to share the occasion. This year, the Hastings campus invited local businesses to donate to establish new student prizes to recognise both academic and extra-curricular achievement. Michael Foster Law chose to support a prize to reward outstanding student volunteering and this prize was open to all students engaging in voluntary activities alongside their studies. The Michael Foster Law Prize for outstanding student volunteer was awarded to undergraduate student Iain Boyle, who has been studying for a BA (Hons) in Applied Social Science whilst undertaking voluntary work with Shelter, SEAP and other Hastings community organisations. Scarlett Fernandez and Karen Simnett who graduated this year were also highly commended for their volunteering efforts.
